European Hammer Crusher

Also known as Coarse Powder Mill — the ultimate one-pass crushing solution for non-metallic minerals

What Makes It Special?

The Cronus European Hammer Crusher (Coarse Powder Mill) is engineered to crush non-metallic mineral ores into coarse powder with a finished particle size of 0-3 mm — all in a single pass. Unlike traditional crushers that require secondary and tertiary crushing stages, the European hammer crusher completes the entire size reduction process in one machine, one step.

This breakthrough design eliminates the need for secondary crushers, conveyors, and screens between stages, dramatically reducing equipment costs, energy consumption, and plant footprint.

  • One-pass crushing to 0-3 mm — no secondary crushing needed
  • Single machine replaces multi-stage crushing circuits
  • Simple operation — one operator can manage the entire process
  • Capacity: 35-100 t/h depending on model and material
  • Low power consumption: 55-132 kW motor options
  • Wear-resistant alloy hammers — extended service life

Working Principle

How the European Hammer Crusher achieves one-pass <3mm output

European Hammer Crusher working principle diagram

The One-Pass Crushing Process

Step 1: Feeding

Raw ore blocks (up to 200 mm) are fed into the crushing chamber through the top inlet hopper. A controlled feeding mechanism ensures consistent material flow.

Step 2: High-Speed Impact Crushing

The rotor spins at high speed (800-1200 RPM), driving the alloy hammers to strike incoming material with tremendous kinetic energy. Material is shattered on impact against the hammers.

Step 3: Grinding Plate and Grate

Partially crushed particles are hurled against the adjustable grinding plate and pass through the bottom grate screen. Only particles smaller than the grate opening (3 mm) exit the chamber. Oversized particles recirculate until they reach the target size.

Step 4: Discharge — Finished Product 0-3mm

The final product exits through the bottom discharge chute as coarse powder with uniform particle size distribution. No screening or secondary crushing required — the product is ready for use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Raymond mills, European hammer crushers, and mineral processing

What is the difference between a Raymond mill and a European Hammer Crusher?

A Raymond mill is a grinding mill designed for fine powder production (typically 80-400 mesh / 0.18-0.038 mm). It uses rollers and a grinding ring to grind material into super-fine powder. A European Hammer Crusher (Coarse Powder Mill) is a crusher that produces coarse powder (0-3 mm). It uses high-speed rotating hammers to crush material through impact. The Raymond mill is for fine grinding; the European hammer crusher is for coarse crushing/powder production in one pass without secondary stages.

Can the European Hammer Crusher really produce 0-3mm without secondary crushing?

Yes, absolutely. This is the key advantage of the European hammer crusher design. The combination of high-speed rotor impact, adjustable grinding plate, and bottom grate screen ensures that only particles smaller than the grate opening (3 mm) exit the crushing chamber. Oversized material is retained and crushed again until it passes through. This internal recirculation eliminates the need for external screening and secondary crushers.

What materials can the European Hammer Crusher process?

The European hammer crusher is ideal for non-metallic minerals with medium hardness (Mohs hardness ≤5), including: limestone, calcite, dolomite, pyrophyllite, talc, calcium carbonate, carbon black, gypsum, barite, bentonite, kaolin, marble, phosphate rock, and similar materials. It is not recommended for very hard, abrasive materials like granite, basalt, or quartzite with high silica content.

How long do the hammers last and how often do they need replacement?

Hammer service life depends on the material being processed and operating conditions. For typical limestone processing, a set of alloy hammers lasts approximately 800-1500 operating hours. Cronus uses high-chromium and manganese alloy hammers for maximum wear resistance. Hammers can be rotated to use both sides, effectively doubling service life. Replacement takes only 2-3 hours with standard tools.

What is the typical delivery time and installation process?

Standard delivery time is 25-35 days after order confirmation. For urgent orders, we offer expedited production. The machine is shipped as a fully assembled unit (or in major sub-assemblies for larger models) in seaworthy containers. Installation typically takes 3-5 days with basic civil foundation work. Cronus provides detailed installation manuals, and our engineers can travel to your site for supervision and operator training.
